2023 Nissan Altima®: What’s Under the Hood?   

For power, the 2023 Altima® has two different four-cylinder engines: a standard naturally aspirated 2.5L DOHC inline four-cylinder direct injection engine with 188 hp and 180 lb.-ft. of torque. The other one is a VC-turbocharged variable-compression unit with 248 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft of torque under the hood of the Altima® SR front-wheel drive trim. Moreover, all 2023 Altima® trims, including both engine configurations, are equipped with a standard Xtronic transmission. Paddle shifters are standard with the Altima SR grade.

Fuel Economy Ratings of the 2023 Nissan Altima® Trims   

Eight trim levels are available for the 2023 Altima® line-up – S FWD, SV FWD, SV AWD, SR FWD, SR AWD, SL FWD, SL AWD, and SR VC-Turbo FWD. The fuel economy ratings of each trim level are as follows:   

• Front-wheel drive S trim – 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined.   
• Front-wheel drive SV, SR, and SL trims – 27 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined.   
• SV and SL trim with the 2.5-liter engine and AWD drivetrain – 26 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined.   
• AWD SR trim – 25 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 29 mpg combined.
